I am an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Fordham University.
I earned my Ph. D. in Mathematics in 2011 from Seoul National University, under the supervision of Young-Hoon Kiem. After that, I worked at University of Georgia (mentor: Angela Gibney), Fordham University (mentor: David Swinarski), and Institute for Advanced Study. Before I went to the graduate school, I studied Mathematics Education at Seoul National University.
I am broadly interested in algebraic geometry and related areas. Some keywords are geometric invariant theory, derived category, birational geometry of moduli spaces, skein algebras, and conformal blocks.
On the academic year of 2025-2026, I am the associate chair of the mathematics department at Lincoln Center.
I am an Associate Editor of the Notices of the American Mathematical Society.
I am organizing the AG@PUI online seminar and the department seminar.
My wife is also a mathematician, working on combinatorics.
